Stakeholders Workshop for Youth Acceleration Programme Held in Morogoro

Morogoro, October 22, 2024, the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) held a stakeholders workshop for the Youth Engineers Acceleration Programme (YEAP) at ERB offices in Morogoro. The event engaged several participants to review and discuss the proposed document for the programme.
During the workshop, Dr. Tobias Swai, a University of Dar es Salaam member of academic staff presented the YEAP proposal, outlining its objectives and anticipated outcomes. ERB is spearheading the development of the YEAP on behalf of the Ministry of Works (MoW). This initiative aims to empower young professionals by fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, enabling them to establish productive and sustainable business ventures.
The YEAP will provide youth entrepreneurs in engineering with essential soft skills, mentorship, and preferential opportunities to engage in implementation of actual projects with major contracting authorities such as TANROADS, RUWASA, TARURA, and TANESCO. The programme will be offered physically and online, and will consist on 10 learning modules which will lead to a development of a business plan which will be preceded by 26 weeks of practical actual work implementation.
YEAP is estimated to take 100 youths and create business ventures which will employ directly about 3000 people for the two years of implementation. Monitoring and Evaluated will be undertaken internally and independently to ensure the success of the project.
The ERB looks forward for a collaborative efforts from all stakeholders in empowering the next generation of engineering professionals and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Tanzania.
