ERB Partners with EAC and GIZ to Advance Digital Tool for Engineers
The Engineer Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB Tanzania) is collaborating with the East African Community (EAC) on a groundbreaking initiative to promote regional trade and integration through digitalization. The project, titled "Digitalization for East African Trade and Integration (DIGEAT)," is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
A key component of this project is the development of a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) Digital Tool aimed at simplifying the issuance of Mutual Recognition credentials within the EAC. These credentials will facilitate the mobility of engineering professionals across member states, fostering regional integration and economic growth.
To achieve this goal, GIZ EAC engaged a consulting firm from Pakistan to design, develop, and deploy the digital tool. Two experts from the consulting team, Nisar Muhammad Faisal and Zahid Fatima, actively contributed to the initiative through virtual participation on the ZOOM platform.
A milestone meeting for this project took place at the ERB headquarters in Dodoma on February 24, 2025. The gathering brought together key stakeholders to review progress and strategize on the next steps for the successful implementation of the MRA Digital Tool.
This collaborative effort underscores ERB commitment to advancing the engineering profession while aligning with regional and international standards. It also highlights the vital role of technology in enhancing professional mobility and driving economic integration across East Africa.
