ERB to Establish Engineering Programmes Awards Recognition Committee (EPARC)

The Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is set to establish the Engineering Programmes Awards Recognition Committee (EPARC), a strategic initiative to streamline the recognition and accreditation of engineering programs.
EPARC will be tasked with drafting its charter, developing a manual for diploma engineering program recognition, creating activity schedules, establishing procedures for accrediting engineering programs, and compiling a comprehensive database of higher education institutions and colleges offering engineering diplomas and programs.
This move is expected to enhance the Board's capability to efficiently and thoroughly assess and recognize engineering programs. The committee will be responsible for approving engineering programs, monitoring their implementation to ensure compliance with quality standards, and recommending program suspension where necessary.
Additionally, EPARC will carry out engagement with institutions such as the United African University in Tanzania, the Dar es Salaam Marine Institute (DMI), BAKITA, and TASAC to address critical engineering matters, including program recognitions requirements.
These plans were discussed during a meeting held at the ERB offices in Dar es Salaam, located at the PSSF Commercial Complex chaired by Eng. Prof. Nerey Mvungi and coordinated by the ERB secretariat. The session emphasized the Board's commitment to advancing excellence in engineering education and professional practice standards.
